The International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC) was created in 1993. Its mission is to promote country-western dancing in the greater gay/lesbian community, to foster communication and networking, and to establish a twice-annual convention bringing together member clubs from around the world. The IAGLCWDC has grown to include over 30 member organizations, including The Sundance Association which joined in 2001.
Individuals who belong to IAGLCWDC member clubs are themselves considered to be members of the IAGLCWDC. We encourage all members to participate and help country-western dancing grow throughout our international community. The Sundance Association is very proud to host the current IAGLCWDC convention as a part of our Sundance Stompede. More info can be found at www.iaglcwdc.org.
Here's more information for member clubs and for those not familiar with some of the IAGLCWDC events and traditions: |

Badges, Bars and Dangles
Many members of the IAGLCWDC have badges from which they hang souvenir dangles that each convention offers. These dangles become collector’s items, and they help raise money for charity. For just a few bucks, you can continue this fine IAGLCWDC tradition. They can be ordered in advance on-line, or you can visit “Dangle Diva” Helen Foshee or her new “Dangle Diva Princess,” Daniel Barutta at the Dangle Table at the Stompede. |

Committee and Delegates Meetings
The IAGLCWDC Committee Meetings (Finance, Internet, Publicity, Dance) will take place Friday morning between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon. The Delegates Meeting will follow Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. If you will be represented at the Delegates Meeting by someone other than your primary delegate, please RSVP to Charlie Monroe. |

General Membership Meeting.
The IAGLCWDC General Membership Meeting typically takes place in conjunction with a Sunday brunch, but this format is not always strictly followed. For example, Gays for Patsy (Boston 1997) and Club Bolo (Montréal 2003) had dinners instead.
This year the Sundance Stompede will forgo the Sunday brunch so we can include more workshops Sunday morning. Instead, the General Membership Meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Saturday, immediately following the special film showing of Anthony Palombit’s documentary “Out On The Dance Floor.” Pizza and salad will be served. This becomes another opportunity for convention attendees to socialize with each other, to thank the contributors and sponsors of the weekend, and to bring together our international community. |

The Basket Auction
It has been a tradition in the past for all clubs to bring a basket full of items representing their home town or area for the Basket Auction. The baskets were on display all weekend during a silent auction. Winners were typically announced during the traditional Sunday Brunch.
The basket auction appears to be being phased out. There will not be the typical basket auction at the Sundance Stompede. However, there is a large silent auction at the Saturday night Hoedown, and clubs are welcome to contribute to this auction with a basket or any other donation. Please contact us in advance if you plan to participate. And IAGLCWDC member clubs are encouraged to become a sponsor of the Sundance Stompede. |

The Golden Hoe Award
Someone – maybe you – could win the fabled “Golden Ho,” I mean “Hoe” Award, democratically bestowed upon that individual with the most votes, who is "... outrageous, noticed, and generally, through his or her actions, made sure that he/she and others had the best damn time at the convention.” Place your ballot(s) in the carefully-guarded (not!) ballot box with your nomination and reason why. We hear the best way to avoid being named the Golden Ho is to vote often for someone else. Winner will be announced at the Sunday night dance. |

The IAGLCWDC Toast
A tradition since 1997, the official drink is the CCS/CCL (Hint: the first “C” stands for “cowboy” or “cowgirl”). There’s something special for “virgins” participating in the toast for the first time. The glasses are raised, all say “Here’s to not leaving this city in the same condition that we found it!” and the glasses are emptied. Originally, a song was included in the toast, but more recently it is omitted because we’re getting too old to remember the words anymore. |
