About Us
The Sundance Association for Country-Western Dancing
The Sundance Association for Country-Western Dancing is an all-volunteer, community-based, and community-supported 501c3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to promoting country-western dancing in the LGBT community.
The Sundance Association is best known for Sundance Saloon, providing country-western dance lessons and dancing twice a week in San Francisco.
The Sundance Association also brings country-western dancing to community events such as the San Francisco Gay Pride celebration and the Castro Street Fair, provides a vehicle for dance and vocal performers to showcase their talents, and raises funds for other nonprofit organizations. To date, the Sundance Association has raised over $180,000 for other charities, including the AIDS/Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, the Bay Area Breast Cancer Network, the Positive Resource Center, New Leaf, Larkin Street Youth Services, Rainbow World Fund, and many more organizations.
The Sundance Stompede began in 2001 as an outgrowth of the annual Hoedown, a gala benefit dance that started in 1997. The Sundance Stompede has grown in scope and attendance and now attracts hundreds of country-western dance aficionados from all over the world. The Sundance Stompede has become a major contributor to San Francisco charities, raising over $25,000 last year alone.
The growth of the Sundance Stompede is a testament to the Sundance Association’s dedication to creating an event worthy of the community it represents.

International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC)
The International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country-Western Dance Clubs or IAGLCWDC (affectionately pronounced "Iggle-Wiggle), is an association of gay/lesbian country-western dance clubs from around the world, created in 1993 in order to promote country-western dancing in the greater gay/lesbian community. There are currently 29 member organizations. The Sundance Association for Country-Western Dancing joined the IAGLCWDC in 2001.
The membership of the IAGLCWDC meets at conventions held approximately twice each year. At an IAGLCWDC convention there will usually be:
- Dance parties, dance exhibitions, dance workshops, and, at many conventions, dance competitions
- IAGLCWDC official business meetings: board meetings, committee meetings, and a general membership meeting
- IAGLCWDC member-learning events: forums and seminars hosted by IAGLCWDC members and invited guest speakers.
If you are a member of the Sundance Association, then you are also a member of the IAGLCWDC! We encourage our members (or anyone from our local community) to attend the IAGLCWDC conventions and have a great time meeting and dancing with folks from all over the world!
