AIDS/BREAST CANCER EMERGENCY FUNDS
The AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF) provides short-term emergency financial assistance to San Franciscans battling HIV/AIDS. Since 1982, the AEF has rallied community support to help pay basic living costs such as rent, utility bills and medical expenses for poverty-level San Franciscans with disabling HIV or AIDS. Annually, the AEF helps nearly 2,500 clients.
The Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) was founded in 2001, modeled after the AIDS Emergency Fund. The BCEF provides short-term emergency financial assistance to low-income San Franciscans battling breast cancer. The BCEF also makes referrals to agencies that can provide longer-term help with practical and emotional support and other vital services.

LYON-MARTIN HEALTH SERVICES
Lyon-Martin provides personalized healthcare and support services to women and transgender people who lack access to quality care because of their sexual or gender identity, regardless of their ability to pay.
Lyon-Martin Health Services is the only free-standing community clinic in California with a specific emphasis on lesbian/bisexual women and transgender health care. Founded in 1979 by a group of medical providers and health activists, Lyon-Martin bridges the gap in sensitive health services available to low-income, uninsured women (primarily lesbians and bisexual women) and transgender people, who have often tended to go longer without routine care because of the difficulty in finding culturally sensitive health providers. Lyon-Martin provides over 7,000 primary care visits for approximately 2,500 patients annually.
